What is Weston Artspace?

Weston Artspace inspires people to be their best self through creativity by fostering creative ambition for emerging and established artists. Artspace cultivates creativity by offering community art sessions and supports people who may not have access to the arts. It’s a place where people can develop skills and share experiences which enhances wellbeing.

Weston Artspace was founded in 2019 by the arts organisation Terrestrial. After consultations with the community they discovered a need for a space to enable creatives to meet, work and explore their creative practice. They worked closely with North Somerset council who agreed to allow them to use an empty high street shop for 12 months. The space became a community arts studio where anyone could sign up to be a member for a low fee. Throughout the year, they ran a programme of creative community events. You can find out more about the adventures in the film below.

January 2020 Terrestrial handed over Weston Artspace to a small team of volunteers and it was registered as a community interest company. The organisation occupied 73 high street until May 2024 thanks to support from North Somerset Council.

After moving out of the high street shop Artspace had a successful year delivering creative projects across the town in a variety of locations. Weston Artspace is proud to announce a new chapter as it prepares to move into a space at the Old Town Quarry. This partnership with Weston Town Council supports a shared vision for the site to become a welcoming cultural and creative destination for the whole community.
